Tehya and Taylor didn’t want a ballroom, a seating chart or a 200-person guest list. They wanted a private moment, to share their love with only their closest people. So we planned a Forest Park wedding in the late-morning light: vows by the waterfall, then off on a little St. Louis adventure.
No production. No pressure. Just two people who were very, very sure.

There’s a spot in Forest Park that feels like you’ve left the city entirely. Stone steps, a cascading waterfall and a quiet pond, all tucked inside the middle of St. Louis. That’s where Tehya and Taylor said their vows.
Their closest loved ones gathered around, the water kept moving behind them, and for a few minutes nothing else existed. Rings went on. Tehya laughed through every second of it. Taylor looked at her like she hung the moon. Then there was a kiss, a cheer and a lift right off the ground.
That’s the beauty of a wedding at Forest Park. The park does the decorating for you. Greenery, stone, water and soft morning light, with no florist or rented arch required.

After the vows, we headed downtown to one of my favorite hidden gems in the city: the St. Louis Central Library.
If you’ve never been inside, it’s stunning. There are arched windows that pour in light, marble floors, gold detailing on the ceilings and stained glass that looks straight out of a period film. We moved between the reading rooms and the grand staircase, letting the shadows and window light do what they do best. It’s moody and cinematic, and it couldn’t have felt more like them.
Some of my favorite frames from the day:
Pairing a Forest Park wedding ceremony with library portraits gave them two completely different looks in one morning: soft and natural outside, warm and dramatic inside.

More couples are choosing private vows, and I get it. For a lot of people, the big wedding was never the point. The marriage is.
Private vows give you:
Tehya and Taylor kept it small, kept it sweet, and spent the rest of the morning just enjoying each other. That’s the whole point.
